Apollo 11 Astronaut and American icon Buzz Aldrin discussed his new book for children, “Reaching for the Moon,” at the Nixon Library Saturday before a sold-out audience in the White House East Room. Dr. Aldrin discussed the future of the space program as well as his own experiences in the Apollo program before taking questions from the audience.
Earlier, near the Library’s reflecting pool, with some help from children from the Library’s Hands on History camp, Dr. Aldrin retraced his moon walk in the cement footsteps he created on the 30th anniversary of his historic moon landing. More than 800 visitors of all ages turned out for the chance to meet Dr. Aldrin and determined to meet every person who waited in line, Dr. Aldrin stayed until the very last guest had received their signed book.
