YORBA LINDA, Calif. — (Aug. 9, 2016) — The Richard Nixon Foundation today announced three days of special events to celebrate the opening of the New Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum, Oct. 14-16, 2016.

The Foundation also announced that two of President and Mrs. Nixon’s grandchildren, Christopher Cox and Melanie Eisenhower, will serve as co-chairs for the Opening Committee. Cox is the son of Tricia Nixon Cox and Edward F. Cox, while Eisenhower is the daughter of Julie Nixon Eisenhower and David Eisenhower.

“It’s an honor for Melanie and me to serve as co-chairs for the Opening Committee of our grandfather’s new Library and Museum,” Cox said. “There’s much Americans can learn today from President Nixon’s legacy, and the new Library and Museum will use engaging and exciting technology to make that legacy accessible for a host of new audiences.”

“Chris and I, and the rest of our family, are grateful for the work of the Richard Nixon Foundation and its generous benefactors in creating an entirely new museum full of interactive opportunities,” Eisenhower said. “He was a fascinating man who governed in complicated times, and we’re excited for the public to get a deeper understanding of him and his accomplishments starting October 14.”

Doors at the New Nixon Library, located at 18001 Yorba Linda Blvd in Yorba Linda, are scheduled to open Friday, Oct. 14, 2016, immediately following a large, public, outdoor opening ceremony at 11 a.m. The outdoor ceremony will offer colorful visuals and dramatic photo and video opportunities. Admission to the New Nixon Library will be free all day on Oct. 14, and visitor hours will be extended to 9 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 15 is a day of engaging and informative presentations on President Nixon’s life, times and legacy. The Foundation will showcase new ways it is taking the New Nixon Library to the world, featuring the creative team who designed the new museum and new digital content. Authors of recent biographies on President Nixon will host A Consequential Life: Biographers evaluate President Nixon’s impact on America and the world.

Sunday, Oct. 16 will offer family-friendly activities at the New Nixon Library.
