Discover How He Shaped Our World

Following a yearlong $15 million renovation, the New Nixon Library and Museum is now open in Yorba Linda, California.

The opening ceremonies featured remarks by President and Mrs. Nixon’s daughter Tricia Nixon Cox, President and Mrs. Nixon’s grandchildren Christopher Cox and Melanie Eisenhower, 56th Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former California governor Pete Wilson, Archivist of the United States David Ferriero, Ambassador Cui Tiankai, Chinese Ambassador to the United States and U.S. Rep Ed Royce, Chairman, House Foreign Affairs Committee.

“Today we celebrate the opening of the meticulously researched, historically accurate new addition of the Library,” said Tricia Nixon Cox. “A journey through the Library is a journey through the second half of the 20th century – an era that has been described as the age of Nixon,” she added.

The new museum features nearly 70 new major exhibits, including a replica of President Nixon’s Oval Office and an extensive exhibit on Nixon’s historic trip to China. It also features 30 unique multi-media experiences, 11 original films, 12 custom digital interactives, 10 curated archival film sequences, more than 600 photographs, 8,000 square feet of wall murals and more than 300 artifacts.

Opening ceremonies also included musical performances by the USC Trojan Marching Band, a Presentation of the Colors by the Los Angeles Air Force Base Honor Guard and a commemorative flyover by a squadron featuring a WWII C-53 Skytrooper plane that flew on D-Day.

“I thank you for being a part of this massive crowd. Richard Nixon deserves it,” said Gov. Pete Wilson to the audience of more than 3000.
