Iran: At a Historic Crossroads Luncheon Symposium

April 22, 2026 | 10:00 am - 1:00 pm PDT

At a moment of profound unsettlement in Iran and across the Middle East, the Richard Nixon Foundation, in partnership with the Persian American Civic Action Network (PACAN), will convene leading thinkers, historians, and policy voices for a symposium examining the 1979 Iranian Revolutin—and the highstakes implications of what may come next for the region and the world.

Nearly half a century ago, Richard Nixon warned of the consequences tht would follow the fall of the Shah: economic decline, political repression, and instability throughout the region.

Today, as Iran enters a new and uncertain chapter, those warnings are once again at the forefront of global conversation.

The program will include:

  • An on-the-ground report from United States Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee.
  • A luncheon conversation with Princess Noor Pahlavi, granddaughter of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, and Christopher Nixon Cox, grandson of President Richard Nixon.
  • A panel of experts assessing the history of the Islamic Republic, the geopolitical fallout that roils the Middle East, and the potential trajectories for the Iranian people in the wake of recent developments.

Panelists include:

Behnam Ben Taleblu — Senior Iran Analyst, Foundation for Defense of Democracy

Jerrold Green — Academician, Senior Fellow, UCLA Burkle Center for Int’l Relations

Kimberly Reed — Past Chairman, President and CEO, Export-Import Bank of the U.S.

Zohreh Mizrahi, Moderator — CEO, Persian American Civic Action Network
