To celebrate First Lady Pat Nixon’s 111th birthday, the Nixon Foundation hosted its annual Pat Nixon Day of Service on March 16th. This free admission day included a volunteer fair where organizations from throughout the community shared ways for people of all ages to get involved and give back. These organizations represented many causes the First Lady worked directly with and championed throughout her lifetime including the Girl Scouts of the USA, the American Red Cross and Guide Dogs for America.

The program also included a wreath laying ceremony at the First Lady’s memorial site where remarks were given by the Mayor of Yorba Linda Gene Hernandez. Following the ceremony, birthday cake was served and guests were invited to the Nixon Library’s East Room to hear award-winning TV host, bestselling author and longtime Nixon family friend Maureen Nunn present her historical portrayal of First Lady Pat Nixon.

This event was made possible by the generous support of The Crean Foundation.

The First Lady’s birthday celebration also included the official dedication of The First Lady Pat Nixon Memorial Highway, a 2.5 mile stretch of the 91 Freeway through nearby Cerritos, California. Learn more here.
