Presidential historian Carl Sferrazza Anthony —a longtime friend of the Richard Nixon Foundation— recently uncovered handwritten notes that former First Lady Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis made for her first biographer, that essentially amount to her memoir. Anthony weaves these notes together, revealing the story of a person determined to define herself in his latest book, Camera Girl: The Coming of Age of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy.

In his first talk since the publication of Camera Girl, Mr. Anthony’s remarks highlighted the relationship between Jackie Bouvier Kennedy and the Nixon family with a focus on the early 1950s.

Anthony is the author of a dozen books about presidents, first ladies and first families. He has served as guest curator for presidential library exhibits, including Why They Wore It, an exhibit on first ladies’ fashions, which ran at the Nixon Library in 2018.

Signed copies of Camera Girl are available in the Nixon Library store.
