The Richard Nixon Foundation, together with the United States Association of Table Tennis, the University of Southern California U.S.-China Institute, and the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles presented the 40th Anniversary of “Ping-Pong Diplomacy,” a commemoration of the series of unlikely exhibition matches which led to President Nixon’s historic trip to China in February 1972.

Friday’s events included amateur and collegiate competitions, as well as exhibition matches with the original players from the American and Chinese ping pong teams.

Events also included traditional Chinese dancing, as well as remarks by Foundation President Sandy Quinn, Chinese Ambassador Qiu Shaofang, former USATT head and U.S.A. coach Tim Boggan, and the 37th President’s younger brother Ed.
