President Nixon and Title IX

As UConn and Syracuse face off tonight in the 2016 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship, we look back on President Nixon’s signing of Title IX.

As a result of the groundbreaking law, any school that receives federal funds – from elementary to university level – must provide fair and equal quality and access on the basis of sex in all areas, including athletics.
