The Richard Nixon Foundation believes in the values outlined in the Bush Center’s September 7, 2023, statement on upholding and promoting democratic principles, especially where our partners are under attack, as in Ukraine and Taiwan. Sadly, some in the media are mischaracterizing the statement as a criticism of the Republican Party —which President Nixon led and championed— or the former GOP President of the United States. Such stories constitute misinformation. As a nonprofit, nonpartisan institution, the Richard Nixon Foundation would never agree to endorse a statement that disparages one of America’s two great political parties or one of President Nixon’s Republican successors.
