Beethoven in Beijing

The Philadelphia Orchestra’s 1973 tour in Beijing was the earliest gesture of cultural diplomacy between the U.S. and the PRC, coming just after President Nixon’s historic trip to China.
Now, author Jennifer Lin has woven this made-for-television cultural expedition into a masterful book, Beethoven in Beijing.
Join Jennifer Lin at the Nixon Library on September 21, 2022, for a screening of a new documentary on this historic cultural foray, produced by History Making Productions, that features voices from those orchestral musicians who went on the trip, and those in China who greeted their American musical counterparts.
The evening will begin with a 5:00 pm reception followed by a musical performance from the Trio Barclay and conclude with a book signing featuring the author.
