The 12th Richard Nixon Legacy Forum, co-sponsored by the Nixon Foundation and National Archives and hosted at the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington D.C., was a discussion between former Nixon Administration national security officials on President Nixon’s Cold War strategy. Topics included RN’s historic opening to China, the SALT I and anti-ballistic missile treaties with the Soviet Union, as well as his efforts to strengthen the NATO alliance and restore peace in the Middle East.

The distinguished roster of panelists included Richard V. Allen, John F. Lehman, and Richard H. Solomon. Edward F. Cox, the son-in-law of the 37th President and current Chairman of the New York Republican Party, moderated the forum. David S. Ferriero, the Archivist of the United States provided introductory remarks.
